About FREE Porn

“FREE PORN!”

“Porn should be FREE!”

“Get into a pornsite totally FREE!”

Give me a fucking break …. It’s about time I educated some of y’all about this whole “free porn” idea.  It’s been percolating in the back of my mind for some time now, and I have finally decided to lay it all out.

Folks, there is NO such thing as a free lunch (yes, I know the historical roots of that phrase too LOL).  Any time you see the whole “free porn” business you should watch sharply for the catch … because there is always a catch somewhere.

Porn is NOT free.  It costs money to pay the people in front of the cameras.  It costs money to pay the people behind the cameras.  It costs money to pay the A/V techs to transform what’s on the cameras into a web format.  I have all of this info from people who know.

Furthermore, it costs money to buy the domains.  It costs money to host the domains.  It costs money or time to promote and advertise the sites as well.  I know these things firsthand … this is my end of the smut-peddling biz.

So if it costs money to make porn, and it costs money to run porn sites … why are so many “giving it away for free”?  Um, they really aren’t.  At least not the honest folks.

The most common thing in the porn-pushing biz is the free trial, usually using the code words “FREE ACCESS” which can mean you try it for free for a short time - anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 days.  This is a pretty fair practice, akin to a free sample.  However, it does lead to an area of abuse known as “cross-sales,” aka checkboxes on the join page.

Anytime you go into a “free” pornsite, be it the “free lifetime membership stuff” (more on that in a sec) or the free trial/access deal, WATCH YOUR CHECKBOXES.  Look for the pale grey astericks (*) and always look at the full page … all the way to the bottom.  The nasty surprises are always at the bottom way below the join button.  Look at what they are trying to cross-sell you as well.  If it looks interesting, then leave it checked.  If it doesn’t interest you, uncheck it … and make sure it stays unchecked!  I have been hearing about boxes “magically” rechecking themselves lately.  Double-check your credit card statement 2, 4, and 9 days after the purchase … especially if you buy from a site other than mine!  I try very hard to weed the truly bad elements out, but they are popping up faster than dandelions in my yard.

Now, about those “free lifetime membership” sites.  The one I personally promote, and have used, does the prechecked cross-sale thing, but *last time I looked* it was upfront about it.  It is also a pictures-only free access, with videos/movies being available for $1 per day as opposed to the standard 30-day monthly fees most sites do.  I like this arrangement.  It works for me when I get a fix or an itch that needs to be scratched.  That “free lifetime membership” program has just shut down!  If y’all find others, make sure y’all understand what you are getting for your “free” membership.

The economy is starting to hit the online pornsite biz, and some companies are reacting in a not-so-pleasant way.  Watch what you get and what you are required to give.  The devil is always in the details, and the porn consumer needs to be aware.
